Village Barber

from $39.00

High quality Giclee print on gorgeous Somerset Velvet fine art paper for premium quality and lightfastness. Framed or unframed options are available. Prints are 8” x 10” with a 1” border for framing.

There’s no coffee at @villagebarbers167 and there aren’t any cocktails either. So why am I even there? No bacon-eggs-and cheese even! You know what’s there? They’re there. And they have been for six hundred years! Or 60. Or 30. I don’t really know, but it’s one of those places that’s a cornerstone of the town, steps away from the train station, a gewgaw & thingamajig store, the post office yadda yada you get it, Maplewood is adorable. I’m actually going to be downtown at the newly opened @thespotdiner.nj in case you happen to be contemporaneously surfing instagram while I’m posting and are hungry. Will I be drawing The Spot? It’s likely. The whole color scheme changed since it was Maple Leaf Diner, and obviously, I’ve got to redo it. (Side note - the prints of Mapleleaf in my shop.studionumbernine.net are probably more valuable now, since they’re a historical record. This is how #art works).

Why was I at the Village Barber? I needed a haircut. There’s really nothing more to it. But I’ve wanted to take my next haircut opportunity as an opportunity to doodle Village Barber for a while now. I even passed up my spot in line because I was in the middle of a whole lot of other lines. Gotta keep that focus.
