I finally ate at @delcorsonj tonight, but this sketch is from about a week ago when I went in and it was so packed, it took me a little bit of time to settle in at the bar and figure out what I wanted my composition to be. The only spot was right up in there, essentially blocked by the taps and just busy and crowded and not exactly what I wanted to try and render. The good news for them is that now I want to go back all the time and find all the angles and eat all the food and have all the cocktails. It was also (for artistic purposes) a good experiment in making a decent composition. It also was a wonderful evening, because I chitchatted with @dbradley1220 and her friend @chewyhoops, who are cool people. ChewyHoops (we can call her Laura) ended up coming to @soma.figuredrawing a week later. #friends.
On the topic of composition, Their logo designer and photographer for Del Corso are phenomenal. Everything about this place is great. Five stars for overall vibe. 💫 I indulged and got their rigatoni carbonara and while I’m sure it was 3000 calories or something, I regret nothing. Nothing at all.
