Parkwood Diner

The Parkwood Diner is known for its salads. That’s what former mayor Vic DeLuca tells me. It’s also known for just being an absolute *staple* of the town, near the end of the @springfield_ave district. I haven’t tried the Taylor Ham Sandwich there yet, but obviously I should. (The prosciutto salad *was* pretty good)

(Dig into the Springfield Ave instagram and you’ll see a post of me hobnobbing with local luminaries, planting seeds for wacky ideas of things to do on the avenue. Side note: who knows how to build parade floats? Especially post apocalyptic mad-max ones.)

I sat down at the diner counter last week to sketch before a meeting in the back room, and got about 80% done with the drawing. This morning I went back to finish it. Normally, I don’t paint the sketch while on location, but I wasn’t crowding anyone, I had the time, and I had my travel watercolor kit. So I got a big chunk of this done in about an hour of sitting there. As usual, it was a hit with the staff. This diner is one of the few places without a social media presence (which is kinda refreshing) so I can’t tag them. But I WILL go back in and show the rest of the owners. The son of the lady in the pink dress standing at the front (Fifi) saw it today at least, and took a photo to show his mom. 🥰
